The scripture readings are:
Genesis 18: 16-33
Romans 5: 1-8
In the great story in Genesis , Abraham argues with God because he knows that God’s real nature is merciful. He reminds God of his better self!
In Romans Paul says that Jesus has demonstrated God’s mercy in being willing to die for sinners.
Our worship will focus on the meaning of God’s mercy and on our responsibility for showing it.

This week I would like to use the form of prayer outlined in the reesources for 4/6 which you can find in the archive for May. If anyone would like to lead this prayer, please let me know and I’ll run through it with you.
My suggested hymns from CH4 for this week:
97 O Lord, you search me and you know me (may be new to some but very beautiful)
351 Jesus hands were kind hands
360 Jesus Christ is waiting
494 Spirit of God ( Tune: Londonderry Air 729)
522 The church is wherever God’s people are praising
These are all on the theme of the mercy or kindness of God.
